THAT is why Ike is in Brawl. He killed the Black Knight in an epic duel with both almost maxing their stats. Unfortunetly, (or fortunetly, for all you non-fanboys out there) Ike got a nerf in his speed (which was pretty good in game) so he could be "balanced" in Brawl. Look where it got him! Fan rantings aside: Ike is a powerhouse. You don't need to get your enemies to high percentages, they die at about 80% when you get it right. 1v1 brawls are where he gets owned, but add many players and he is awesome.
A: your quickest attacks. These are an integral part of fighting as Ike.
F-tilt: This has the power of a normal smash attack, a pretty good move.
U-tilt: quick (for Ike) and puts your opponent in the air. Use it multiple times, U-Smash, or jump up and aerial them to keep the pressure on.
D-tilt: Puts opponents above and in front of you, good to follow up with a F-air or N-air.
F-Smash: Never get hit by this, and only pull it out when you can hit.
D-Smash: smacks opponents up. Not much to say here.
U-Smash: good on airborne foes to stop them from coming down on you with an aerial. Hits all around Ike.
N-air: One of Ike's quick aerials. Good to use.
F-air: Slower, more powerful N-air
B-air: Quick, and can be used to reverse air ruch. Ike's best aerial.
U-air: Slow, but lasts awhile. very strong when it hits.
D-air: Easy to spike with, and hurts a lot.
B: Eruption. Ike gets super armor while plunging his sword into the ground, but not while charging. It's generally better than the F-Smash because it hits more area and comes out faster.
Side-B: Charge up and fly across the stage. Can be used to recover.
Up-B: Aether: Throw the sword into the air, spin, and come down. Ike has super armor until he catches his sword.
Down-B: Counter. It takes a while to come out, but it's still a good attack.
Dash-A: it's horrible. I recommend something else.
Grabs: Ike's grabs suck. They're seriously the worst in the game. Just pummel your opponents until they get out, or throw down.
Pros and Cons:
Pros:
highly damaging
sword offers good reach
high knockback
B-button moves are good
Cons:
Slow
Attacks come out really late, and you have ending lag
can't recover well, both Side-B and Up-B make you "prone" or unable to do anything
Counter comes out really slow
Grabs suck
Approach? Really hard.
Enemy shield nullify everything good about him, and all enemies have shields.
In Fire Emblem, Ike is awesome. In Brawl, however, he sucks. Fire Emblem fans cry over his inability to play well, and go back and play Fire Emblem instead of Brawl, play Marth, or give up on Ike and pick another character. I don't recommend using Ike when money is on the line.
