Another ripoff from Smashboards.com
Credit goes to Smashboards and collaborators that worked on the list.
Everything is up for debate.

I'm not entirely sure about how this process works. Does one choose a stage from the first "starter" list to fight and then choose as the matchs go on, and then pick counter stages to play against characters? Can one switch a character between stage selections? I don't understand the system.
Based on my limited understanding of this, however, I think the "starter/counter" should all start as "counter" and the "counter/banned" should just be banned while we play. I think the starter stage should be the most simple stages we have, and then counter stages should be conductive to actual brawling and relatively uncomplicated. I think Norfair should be banned just because so much random stuff happens while brawling too.

I'm not too sure myself. I think you generally choose a neutral stage first, loser gains the ability to pick a counter and the process continues until the amount of battles is reached.
I agree with moving the borderline stages to their extremities because I just playtested the Starter/Counter stages, and none of them seem to have the general neutrality that the starters have.

The system seems to be:
Match 1: Neutral Match 2: Stage that hoses winning character Match 3: Stage that hoses losing character
That's what it feels like to me...

I am guessing that they didn't use tornament mode.

They write their own. (Maybe with the help of a random number generator?) Too bad we don't have enough time at Play and Trade tournaments to apply this to our tourneys.

They cut down lives to 2. Yeah. Not enough time. We could try to apply this to BC. But, we also don't have all the time in the world.

Or we could have an ongoing tournament that spans many weeks. Round Robin style. We would need people to sign up beforehand though...

sry to rebring this thread back up but why is Luigi's mansion not atleast a starter counter stage.
Not much really changes and the stage can be completely flat at times.

okay here's how stage picking works (lol, from smashboards)
You need an odd number of starter stages, those are the stages that are set to the random button. The first match gets chosen as a strikeout form (i say i dont want stage A, opponent doesn't want stage E, i hate B, he hates D, only stage left is stage C, so we play there)
after the first game it goes into the counterpicking order listed above and you can choose to play on any stage that isn't banned. If necesary, the last game is done the same way as the second game where the losers picks the stage, etc.

double post ftl, but i think this needs mentioning...if i just edit then it probably wont be seen...
dont forget to ban a stage before the match so that it can't even be CP'd...

I am not sure how to reply to this but. Luigi's is still a counterpick. Nothing changes if it is moved up to Starter/Counter. But I heard that there are some states that ban Luigi's. lol.

C307.
The only reason Luigi's isn't BANNED is because it "can be completely flat at times"

This ought to go in the first post, but I know better than to modify Ogbot's posts. BUT WAIT! Ogbot ninja edited it and now this part of my post looks lame!
I like how stages seemed to only move DOWN. Oh well, no Mario Bros for me.
Maybe Someday....
