Snake is awesome. Let's get that straight first. Now...let's move on to an analysis.
Strengths:
1) Heavy. It's hard to kill Snake at low percentages
2) Powerful. Many of his attacks have large knockback, and many more have good range and priority.
3) Projectiles. You can play a good long range game, and you've got enough stuff to keep your opponent guessing.
4) tilts. U-tilt is awesome. F-tilt is awesome. D-tilt is okay, but it rarely is used.
5) Snake dashing/ mortar slide. You slide across the stage while charging you mortar.
Weaknesses:
1) Slow. He doesn't run fast...
2) jumping. His first jump sucks. Second isn't much better. Cipher fixes it, but barely.
3) "Meh" aerials. F-air is situational. D-air and N-air suck. B-air can be reverse-aerial-rushed. U air is suprisingly powerful.
His moves:
A: punch-punch-kick. Pretty good. Use it when they get in your face
F-tilt: speedy and full of power/priority
U-tilt: very good at killing. Juggling too. Very long reach.
D-tilt: kinda mediocre, makes up for D-smash
F-smash: ridicuously powerful, ridicuously hard to hit with. Use with caution, or not at all.
U-Smash: mortar. Charging it only nets you more distance. Still a good attack on airborn opponents
D-Smash: plants a mine. whenever someone steps on it, or a projectile flies too close it explodes. Generally doesn't do much...but you should use it when you have nothing to do.
N-air: don't use this, it takes too long.
F-air: spike. Takes a long time to use.
D-air: same as N-air, except down.
B-air: awesome. Reverse air rush this a lot. It is awesome
U-air: powerful, and has good knockback. Mix it up with your mortar while juggling, or just use the mortar.
B: Grenade. These things are awesome
Side B: Nikita Missile: It doesn't do to much, but you can play mind games with it by randomly droping it instead of flying it until it runs out of fuel. You stop slying this thing with the shield button.
Up B: Cipher. You fly up and unless opponents hit your hands you don't fall off.
Down B: C4. This is why the D-Smash is bad. You can stick this to the ground, or a person, and detonate it when you feel like it.
Grab/throws: Snake has good throws. Down throw sets them down, but you can do fun stuff while they're down there.
Dash: It's a dash attack. It is used to start the Snake dash, so I guess that makes it good?
General strategy: I've only seen a few Snakes, so this is how I play Snake. Bear with me, as I think this is the "base" you build yourself a better strategy from. Draw the opponent close by throwing grenades and using the Nikita missile, then use F-tilt or A combo when they get close. Mortar is almost always good. D-air, N-air, D-tilt, and F-air really aren't used much.
