People playing video games as their occupation. Quite impressive. Why have none of us tried it?

i saw hat article a few days ago, meh
because playing vidya games in america means you need to play FPS's and you need to be hella good. And more importantly, you need to play halo. And more importantly, it's not on the computer. Counter strike and all taht hardly have the super pro money that halo does. Which means you have to play a game that was in its prime about 4 years ago inside of halo 2. Halo 3 is awesome, but halo 2....now that was the shit. I could feel it back then, and i sucked at it hardcore. Basically, you need to play FPS, and you need to play halo 3, and you need to live in california, and you need to have at least 2 other friends that are HELLA good and another friend who is good and then you can go pro as a team and then the best one of you may become amazing and then you might make money. But first you need to live in Cali, but you don't so you might as well save money.
and og, I feel bad for you.....music and education are about the 2 most annoying things to major in and the combination of the two is about as appealing as a combination of the two most annoying things in the world.

Well I'd like to be able to conduct High School bands and choirs for a living, so I've just kind of accepted it.

Just remember, Music degree holders that don't get employed in music work in fast food, and spend their lives searching for gigs to play at to make money for lunch the next day.
To emplyers, you are considered to have no talent or skill outside of music if you have a degree in music.

You're looking at only half of that Evan.
Education was included in there as well. That means I could easily be a substitute anywhere if there aren't ANY openings as a Music Educator.

aren't music teachers the ones that tend to NOT be absent often? idk about your music teachers, but mine only missed school for their weddings and babies....and the dudes, they missed if they died (and were reborn). seriously, music subs are the worst anyway, they come in for a day and try to conduct, but of course their style is different, have no clue how the class is doing, and has no real options for helping out the class besides asking "what drills do you usually do?" i dont want to be an ahole against what you love, cuz music is tight, but sometimes my ahole side comes out, sorry

In most states if you have a teaching degree you can be a sub for any subject, Some states like ours just require you to have a degree. Worst case scenario, I sub for a year or two at a school to get a foot in as a music teacher. No problem dude, I face a lot of flak anyway for wanting to go into something like this

If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad.
*Remembers song by Sheryl Crow*
Hope it all works out!
I'm not quite sure what I want to do specifically. I have my cute little dream jobs but I doubt they're possible or if I'm even capable of doing it.

Hey Evan what college are you in?
Tony, good luck with the music thing. I hope that works out.
I'm not really sure what I'd like to be. Well maybe a parapsychologist or a cryptozoologist but it isn't that easy to make money in those fields.
By the way, any of you know any places that are hiring? I need a job for gas money.
