You seemed to be talking more about how to evolve as a player and not discussing what we should do, or what needs to happen. How do we: "Step it up a notch"?
If you want to save this site, as you have said that interests you, I suggest for you to make another announcement or edit yours again before people read it, and talk about that.
What you say is true though, and I don't disagree.
Now, I have 3 questions I hope you answer.
1.) Let's say nothing happens, people post here, but don't act on anything. This means you will end this forum and those of us truly interested go to MNSmash and do stuff there?
2.) Let's say we "step it up". We get better, and we start having more tournies. (How lol school just started) Now what? We need more people. We need to evolve. How are we going to deal with that?
3.) Yoshi the whole time? Win! *LOLNOTAQUESTION*
EDIT: Also, what about people like me? My parents aren't ready for my interest in the "statewide scene"! They want to keep it local, they don't want to drive far, they want me to be safe 24/7! I need local stuff like this to slowly expand into statewide!

I need local stuff like this to slowly expand into statewide! 1. I won't end the forum, I probably just won't be a part of it anymore. 2. We need people to find other's interested in competitive Brawl and people that are interested in getting better. We can't just let people stumble across our site because really, how easy is that? Not easy at all. We need to hype ourselves up. 3. I know right? I got my rape face on Oh and how do people step it up? Change their mentalities on the game. We have people that are actually good here, but they have such a narrow scope when they approach and view this game that they need to evolve the way they are looking at it to step it up.

Was this your awakening? Mine was Beezo last year. Welcome to the club. Although I still haven't found anyone at school to make me better yet. Don't have a Game club like U of M. Just got my WiFi working though, it's doing the whole system update stuff. I be r needing to fight people. Ima be swapping FC with SWF peeps and local peeps in MN soon so...
I still am quite irritated that the whole tournie scene in MN was dead over the summer. All these shennanigans are happening now, and I'm stuck in scrub land over here.

Mac, I know it's lol wifi, but I'll always be willing to play you on wifi whenever you want.
It's always worth it to play someone good. We can give eachother tips and such. And yeah, MN sucks arse for a tournament scene. We need to get on the ball.

We're making strides as a state community Zeph, we really are.
kspam, yes basically. If you don't step your game up, you will be left behind. It's as simple as that.
And to anybody that is wondering, I am an MN Smasher. I don't hold the ties of PLS anymore because there isn't much left for me here. I'm still a part of the community, but I am an MN Smasher much like Neo, Near, Moe and BAMM.

I became a member there a long time ago, but nothing there was local whatsoever and they didn't allow me to slowly enter the statewide scene without traveling far or going out of state.
Then the only biweekly shut down so I kind of stopped visiting.

how old are you zephron? although i guess if your parents are really strict there is nothing you can really do about it. i have stuff at my apartment quite often, but its like 30 min away from you. maybe if you talked to your parents and went with a bunch of PLS people they knew they would be more comfortable with it.

I am 16, 17 in March. So I'm getting there..
Well, I told my parents you were at Roseville, and this is basically how the conversation went:
Me: "Hey Mom, there's another Brawl-fest thingy. May I go? Are we doing anything tomorrow?"
Mom: "Well, let's see. *big sigh* Have you met the guy who is hosting it?
Me: "Well, no... but there are people I know who are going to his house. It's gonna be fun! It's in Roseville btw."
Mom: "Roseville?? No. That's way too far and you don't know if those boys won't even get back home. Things happen!"
Me: "But... he's done it before and the same kids went. They're alive!"
Mom: "We'll see." *You know she's not going to let me go at this point*
I think she might let me go if someone talks to her for reassurance but Idk.
She also mentioned school stuff but I am good with school and she knows it.

I know I haven't been on these forums lately, but I decided to check up to see how our Smash community was going, and I am a bit shocked by this.
Not trying to be a know it all, but I kind of understand. As you all know I'm a young person, usually labeled ignorant and immature. After all those brawl tournaments in the past, I thought myself as an amazing smasher, being able to actually get to first, I thought i was superior! But, as time progressed I kind of had to open my eyes, and realized I was just lucky. I kind of had to step back and realize my real place in the community, in the back with all of those who just won the PnT tournaments. I always tried to step up and rush through things thinking I was great! But it's just not based on one tournament. And even if you get far, really you can only be recognized as a state wide competitor if you consistently place higher and higher and higher. Maybe our community just won't take it seriously enough, and find it more as a hobby then competitively as a "career" I might say. I don't know what else I can add, and maybe I'm wrong, or right, but I know you are over exaggerating.

Alex...
I wasn't bashing at all with this post, I was just saying overall that people need to open their eyes.
And no I won't money match you, not because I'm afraid, but I honestly just don't like MMing. Show me you're good by placing well. You say I'm not as good as I make myself out to be, and I think I'm only decent at best, but my mindset helps change a lot of things. You haven't legitimately 1v1'd me in a while, so that isn't a judgment that you should be passing. I realize I did overstep some boundaries by saying you should step it up too, but I haven't seen a mindset change in you, and that's primarily what that whole post was talking about. You know your options, but can you really read your opponent effectively?
You want me to get rid of my administrator powers huh. Do you remember who created this board? I don't know about you, but I've been here since day 1 and I want to see this community thrive, but it's just been dying and it's on the brink of death. I only hold on to it to remind me that yes I did help spark our scene here and that it's a part of my duties to do what I can for it. This announcement was for everyone to hopefully benefit from. Yes I am an MN Smasher, but yes I'm also a PLS Brawler. Do I renounce my ties? Yes. Am I still one? Yes.
Mr. Alex, I realize that there's a lot of ego to butt heads with here, but what really comes of it? Do I recognize you have skill? Yes. Have I seen it in the tourney scene? Not really. Do I hope you'll do better under the right circumstances? Yes. I'm not your enemy, really. I'm just trying a little constructive criticism, and if you honestly think you're above it then fine, I can't change that, but I'm not one to rule out, trust me...
