I still don't have a main. Help! There are like 5 characters I don't want to/can't play. And I've tried like everyone else. I tried Ness vs. Kspam yesterday and did pretty well, except he kept edge-guarding. Better get used to it. You'll never live in the competitive edge of the game, if don't like unmerciful tactics. |

You aren't my leader anymore...have emergency change it....WHY DID YOU QUIT?! WITH KSPAM AS LEADER WE WILL FALL APART!!! I NEED TO FIND A MAIN!!!! Phew...got that off my chest. I can't/won't play: Yoshi, Ice Climbers, Olimar, Pokemon Trainer, Sonic, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Ganondorf, Jigglypuff, Kirby, Game and Watch, Luigi, and Peach. Ok, so more like 13 characters....ha, I'm unlucky! Anyways, I don't like Ganondorf, Sonic, Bowser, Olimar, Pokemon Trainer, Yoshi, Ice Climbers, and Jigglypuff. I can't play Luigi, Peach, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Game and Watch. Bleh....still trying Ness. Wish me luck!
EDIT: First part was talking to Zero, who quit as team leader apparently...

Just randomly pick someone Pulse. What I did to pick Peach was think, "Who does nobody play as that isn't top tier? Lets goof around with them first to get use to them, and then practice/ study them to get better." That's how Peach came about, plus I like Peach. She's too sexy. Marth came because I have always played a little Marth, and I wanted a higher tier to balance out Peach's bad match-ups (she has a 40-60 on all top-tiers).
So basically, pick someone you like as your main. The pick your alt/s based on your mains weaknesses.
Your main = Personal choice
Your alt/s = Utility
I just play Sheik because I can. She doesn't really solve any of Peach's problems though. Diddy has returned to my roster of playable characters BTW everybody. Watch Out!

I picked Falco by basically trying freaking everyone in the game (but Falco cause i couldn't play him). They i just picked Falco, looked up stuff for him, played with him a bit, and viola new main.
I left the crew cause i don't see a point in crews anymore. U guys could choose a different leader if u want.
BTW: Try Game & Watch....Keep working him until u find that perfect harmony with him.

I wouldn't recommend G&W.... if you're a competitive person and always want to improve, idk G&W players don't have much going for them. They all play the exact same way. They also don't have many AT's and aren't respected due to his very good aerials and outrageous smashes.
That.. and I main Lucas so naturally I have an antipathy for those people XD
I mained Lucas because I had three mains at one time: Toon Link, whom I was losing my touch with and EVERYONE I knew mained him, Zelda, whom I felt was cheap and not very deep. (Just use smashes according to where the enemy is, then throw in some lightning kicks and there you go) and Lucas, who I wasn't very good with but he just felt good to play, and his recovery is great.
I used to suicide SO DARN MUCH but then Lucas helped me break that chain, since before whenever it was apparent I needed to recover, I always did up b immediately, without thinking... Lucas reminded me I need to think exactly where I want to go before I recover...
I would SO MAIN Link if Sakurai didn't make his recovery useless every game. Plus it's so easy to gimp him I just feel so useless sometimes.

for melee just put me down as Top 6 + luigi i'm willing to bet that the top 6 chars (fox-falcon) are at as high a level as y'alls (woot for being a cocky bastard  ) and then my luigi is just hella fun otherwise: Peach Sheik Marth Fox Luigi |

Don't pick top tier because you will feel no pride when you win simply because it's easier for top tier to win. Why don't you actually get good with Pikachu? Or play Fox. Watch some vids of Tyrant playing Fox, and you will like him.

Plus it's really awesome to "represent" your character and watch him rise up the tier list because of people like you, who main the character successfully in a competitive enviornment.
For instance, Lucas rose one spot, and is now 1 off of the lowest part of Mid tier 
Which is currently being held by Ike. We got this in the bag. |

The higher you are on the tier list, theore Johns people have about you. Look at Metaknight. Nobody Fn likes Metaknight cuase he's a cheap SOB. I always complain when I lose to a top tier cause it's always from the bullshit that makes them top tier. Ex: I complain about Dedede because Dedede has his ridiculous grab range, and can chain throw every character I play as to atleast 40% (Diddy and Sheik to atleast 60% at longer stages).
If Peach rose on the tier list I'd be pissed, cause then people like me will find terrible excuses to lose to them. Right now the only John for losing to Peach is simply getting your ass kicked the old-fashioned way.

Yeah.... but you know your character is good and you know you can pwn any scrub MK (usually... wifi makes things iffy XD)
or nado, ftilt spamming snake. So you know you have skill... and honestly I doubt Lucas will get top tier, but mid tier would be very great. Peach is still like 2 tiers above Lucas, so don't blame us for wanting to go up XD

I picked R.O.B. because someone said he sucked. Up until now, he's still my main.
I love how the Marth boards are talking shit about us, and our drop in the list. But I care not.
Some Marth players are dickheads. Some Marth players are respectable. Let the underestimation of the lower tiers be known!

I'm pretty much settled on playing Ness for the tourny tomorrow. I do plan on going, although I'm going to have to argue with my parents about it. It's getting to where it's even between me and Kspam, except for when I make stupid moves.

Pulse: I've rocked a ness a few times, never at PNT, but I think if he feels good then run with it. He's definitely a character you need to just have an instinctive enjoyment of using to be at all competent. What I mean is I can pick up MK or DDD and do quite well because they're top tier, but I hate actually playing them. It just doesn't entirely click. Ness is one who can be fantastic if you and he agree on how to play when you use him. Short version. If ness feels right, go with it. I have good things to say about him. |
